I’m from La Vila Joiosa, on the Alicante coast, where the mountains and the sea are close together. For those of us from there, the Mediterranean has always been part of our lives and of how we understand where we come from.
The legends I grew up with usually tell of love between men and women. Onades grew out of a desire to preserve that world of stories and, at the same time, add a new legend. One that was also queer, gay, and carried something of me.

Our coast is full of beautiful stories and legends that try to explain how its mountains, islands and coves came to be. I’ve always been drawn to that way of looking at a landscape and imagining a story behind it. But the legends I grew up with usually tell of love between men and women, and I wanted to find myself in them, too.
I didn’t want to make a historical documentary, but I did want to preserve something of those stories, customs and ties to the land from a more personal, poetic perspective. That is where Onades began: from a desire to preserve that world of stories and add a new legend. One in which the Mediterranean comes to life to guide its people and help them reconnect with their roots.
In my case, that legend is queer, it is gay, and it carries something of me. Making diverse cinema also means being able to imagine that our stories belong to the places we come from. Onades is my way of making a small contribution to the story of a land that will always be part of me.

ÁLVAROVíctor Criado
Víctor found in acting a space to explore himself and connect with his characters. Alongside creating narrative-led content for social media, in Onades he plays a young man searching for a place to belong and reconnecting with his roots.
THE MAN OF THE SEAPablo Royo
A trained Valencian actor with experience in theatre and film. His passion for cinema draws him to stories that explore emotion, sensuality and spirituality.
MARTAPaula Lloret
An actor and theatre-maker who trained at the Murcia School of Dramatic Art (ESAD) and is a member of the Lucas Escobedo company. Her work in physical and object theatre has taken her to stages across Spain and internationally. In Onades she brings sensitivity and strength to a character central to the protagonist’s journey.
Screenplay & directionAndoni Martínez
A London-based director and screenwriter from La Vila Joiosa. A Design graduate who trained at MetFilm School London, he has worked in international film and television. With Onades he returns to his hometown to explore memory, identity and desire through intimate, sensory storytelling.
CinematographyMichell Rivas Canal
A director of photography and filmmaker whose work spans feature films, advertising and fashion films, with credits including El Amparo. In Onades, his storytelling through light and colour shapes the film’s visual world and its intimate, sensory atmosphere.
Production designAndrea Torres
A designer and visual artist whose work combines surrealism and poetry. In Onades, her attention to detail and use of symbolism give the film’s spaces and objects their character, making the setting part of the story.

En Más de uno Marina Baixa, Andoni Martínez comparte el origen de Onades y su regreso a La Vila para contar una historia íntima, ligada a la memoria, el deseo y el Mediterráneo.

Así nació Onades, un cortometraje sobre los lugares que dejamos atrás y las emociones que nunca se fueron.
Onades está escrito y dirigido por Andoni Martínez, cineasta nacido en La Vila Joiosa y afincado en Londres.
Tras trabajar en proyectos de cine y televisión internacional, regresa a su pueblo natal con su primer cortometraje de ficción como director: una historia en la que se entrelazan memoria, deseo y paisaje mediterráneo.
Rodada en La Vila con un equipo independiente, la película combina lo cotidiano con lo fabuloso. Nace del deseo de reencontrarnos con quienes fuimos y con aquello que sigue formando parte de nosotros, incluso cuando nos vamos.
Pablo Royo de Larios
Actor valenciano formado en interpretación, con experiencia en teatro y cine. Su vocación cinematográfica le lleva a explorar historias desde la emoción, la sensualidad y la espiritualidad.
Víctor Criado Ruiz
Encontró en la interpretación un espacio para explorarse y conectar con sus personajes. Además de crear contenido de carácter narrativo en redes, en Onades da vida a un joven que busca su lugar y se reencuentra con sus raíces.
Paula Lloret de Torre
Actriz y creadora escénica formada en la ESAD de Murcia y miembro de la compañía Lucas Escobedo. Su trayectoria en teatro físico y de objetos la ha llevado a escenarios nacionales e internacionales. En Onades interpreta a un personaje clave en el viaje del protagonista, al que aporta sensibilidad y fuerza.
Andoni Martínez
Director y guionista de La Vila Joiosa, afincado en Londres. Graduado en Diseño y formado en MetFilm School London, ha trabajado en cine y televisión internacional. Su obra explora la identidad, la memoria y el deseo desde una mirada íntima y sensorial.
Michell Rivas
Director de fotografía y cineasta con experiencia en largometrajes, publicidad y fashion films, con trabajos como El Amparo. Su manera de narrar a través de la luz y el color da forma al universo visual de Onades.
Andrea Torres
Diseñadora y artista visual cuya obra combina lo surrealista y lo poético. Su atención al detalle y el uso de la simbología dan carácter a los espacios y objetos de Onades.
